it is thursday, and we are all still healthy even though we have been to a couple of play groups, friends' houses and church. AMAZING!

december was a long month. cathi throwing up all the time, aidan with the croop and a trip to the emergency room and a steriod shot in the butt, cathi with a snotty cold AND throwing up, aidan sneezing out snot fangs, geordie in bed the two days before we are all to go travelling for christmas, NYQUIL, Sudafed, folic acid, Motrin, Tylenol, 340,333,645,833 facial tissues, and much more. but we all made it to christmas at the ostrom's, stoddard's, and brunner's and had a great time at each. now cathi has [mostly] stopped throwing up and we are all breathing freely, but we had aidan in child care at church today, so tuesday we expect to start the humidifier going again.

it has been a long time. i was blaming the delay on the problems we had with the hosting company, but that obviously isn't holding me back any more. aidan is now well into his third year and continues to get cuter, smarter and more fun every day. he has been struggling with staying healthy for the past two or three weeks, but is doing remarkably well considering - croop, snot, ear infection. aidan's aunt wendy had her baby - cousin caleb - two days ago and both are doing well. they hope to be home from the hospital today. everyone is looking forward to christmas - just hoping we are all well enough to enjoy it.

we have had some problems in the last couple of months with the web site. we can blame the hosting company for some of them, but must take some credit for the others. we will try and be a bit better about getting fresh news up here in the journal.

I'm at work and I just opened my bag to get my glasses out and found a little treat. If I get bored today I can always play with one of the little basketballs - the orange one to be exact. That kid is the best.

Just returned from our church's annual retreat. I didn't take any pictures as I wanted to be in the moment fully and just live it. But now I'm home and full of memories I don't want to forget about our first retreat as a family of three. -Aidan watching the frog-catching kids and throwing sticks into the pond -late nights playing until nine thirty and still up at six thirty -swinging with him in my lap, Daddy kissing him with every push -Aidan and Will playing together as much as they wanted -trying to sleep in a sleeping bag on a vinyl coated narrow mattress while wrestling a squirming toddler -the crazy power point with the speaker's sermons -the long hallway filled with strollers, every room housing a couple with a small baby or toddler -the rain waiting until Sunday morning's meeting, then lifting while we packed the car

Aidan is the proud owner of a new (to us) sandbox. He loved it today with no sand, so tomorrow he's going to pee his pants with excitement now that we've added the essential ingredient. I guess he does that peeing thing quite a bit anyway, but you get it. He likes blowing bubbles in the bath with Daddy, playing basketball -sinking shots with his mini basketball or an orange. His favorite animals this week are dogs, elephants, and monkeys. We saw a commercial tonight (Sprite, I think), which starred a few monkeys. He was scratching his armpit and making his "ooo, ooo" noises for at least half an hour, trying to get those monkeys to reappear. This is the stuff that fills our days. The weeds grow, the dishes pile up on the counter, and we watch our boy making monkey noises. Life is so good. (An excerpt from note to George and Anita - I just liked it)

lots of fun things going on every day. i look forward to getting home from work in the evening every day. aidan is always glad to see me. some times he takes off running as soon as he sees me, but i know this is just because he wants to play chase. no feelings are hurt - on the contrary, i love it.
